Leadership Training

Free The Children believes that young people are leaders in their communities and the world. Our Leadership programming gives youth the skills to turn their leadership potential into real action.

O Ambassadors: This school-based, joint project with Oprah’s Angel Network connects young people in North America with people around the world to create lasting change by working toward the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Life in Action: The Life in Action program educates and empowers youth across North America to initiate positive change through healthy daily choices, an active lifestyle and social responsibility.

Global Voices: Through our partnership with the Toronto Star, young journalists are invited to share their ideas about social issues topics alongside Craig Kielburger and Marc Kielburger’s weekly column. Curriculum resources for educators are provided to bring the program into the classroom.

Directors of Change: Student-made documentary films meet school curriculum in this innovative school-based program.

Take Action! Summer Leadership Academy: Led by our expert peer-facilitators, this week-long leadership program fosters social-issues savvy and lifelong friendships. A joint initiative of Free The Children and Me to We/Leaders Today.

Volunteer Now! Our partner organization Me to We/Leaders Today provides this school-based leadership program about volunteerism and community service, reaching 200,000 students every year.

Volunteer Overseas

Take the trip of a lifetime and experience international development first-hand through an unforgettable journey overseas with Free The Children’s partner organization, Me to We (Leaders Today).

Me to We (Leaders Today) Trips take youth on international volunteer and leadership experiences in the rural communities of Arizona/Mexico, Kenya, Ecuador, China and India through. Participants build leadership skills and cultivate new friendships as they discover an incredible new culture.

Youth will also see first-hand how their Adopt a Village fundraising campaigns for Free The Children are impacting communities overseas, while they work with community members to build a school and other development project.

Adults, educators, families and corporate groups can take an unforgettable journey to experience the rich culture of the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Me to We (Leaders Today) will customize trips specific to your group’s wishes, ensuring you have the experience of a lifetime.
